Her Night with the Duke by Diana Quincy

3.0

So, I think I went into this book with too high of expectations.
Leela was a character that yes, had freedom and the ability to travel and write and do as she wished for the most part. But I ultimately felt like she was selfish, not even trying to find compromises in any of the situations throughout the novel. She could have easily found compromises, and had conversations that would have helped this novel along.
Hunt, at the same time, was also selfish. He was angry for far too long over things outside of his control. He punished people who didn't deserve it, and he truly came across as an entitled duke, who expected everyone to bend to him.
The resolution did finally happen, and it was fine. Grand gesture time was great, but didn't raise my rating.
Also, why aren't people talking about the douche canoe of a stepson? He made my skin crawl every time he was on page, and he was truly a waste of space in this novel. Another EVEN MORE selfish entitled man who thinks women aren't worth being in his space unless she is doing something sexual for him. Heck, he even casts away his own sister and WONT GIVE HER THE CLOTHES THAT SHE OWNS!!!
Though the writing style was nice, this story didn't work very well for me. I'm not writing off the author though. I am truly sad that I didn't enjoy this one as much as everyone else. I really wanted to. I look forward to trying another story from this author to see if I enjoy it better.
