Crime and Punishment by Fyodor Dostoevsky
5.0
Currently one of my favourite books of all time, which is a very arbitrary statement because I am 17 and I don't think I can really say anything is my favourite of all time. However, I still really enjoyed reading this and was very invested in the storyline and characters. I am someone who doesn't enjoy mystery novels or detective stories, so I was glad to see that this was more focused on the individual and their crime, getting into their head, their motives, and the system that may have contributed to the crime rather than a detective chasing a criminal the entire time. I am excited to re-read this in the future and pick up on more details and appreciate the writing more, rather than focus on just understanding the storyline. However, I will say that the ending felt very sudden and I did not expect it to end that way.
