The Poisoner by I.V. Ophelia
5.0
I absolutely adored this book. Ophelia does a great job of thrusting the reader into a victorian gothic tale full of intrigue.
Alina is s sharp, but stubborn, individual with a knack for poisons. I loved her learning about her process and seeing her dive into the science of her elixirs. Having her explore Silas was probably one of my favorite scenes though. It felt out of place and yet- so much like her. It was awkward in one of the best ways possible.
Silas is terrifying. He is a literal psychopath that has feline characteristics that at once creeped me out but also made me cackle.
Alina and Silas play a dangerous game of cat and mouse, each trying to outset, or kill, the other. I devoured this book and only had to force myself to put it down once so I could catch some rest.
I'll be auto buying from this author hereon out.
