The Other Wife by Claire McGowan

3.0

I've had this on my TBR for a while and thought I would give it a try by audiobook, and I'm glad I read it in this format. I thought it was longer than necessary and I may have DNF'd if it was a physical copy.
It was a slow start, with the plot being pretty basic, and up to 40% it was on track for a 2-star rating. However, there were some twists and turns that I didn't see coming which kept the book interesting for the second half. I did think that there was a lot of 'conveniences' in the plot which put me off, it didn't feel very creative.
As for the characters, I disliked most of them and I'm not sure if this was intentional by the author? For instance Susie was very irritating to me and it was difficult to find sympathy for her situation. Nora was so cold and again, it was hard to feel sympathy for her character. The majority of the men were unlikeable and either underdeveloped as characters or just too similar to one another.
The Other Wife is a pretty standard basic thriller. I have read another from Claire McGowan (What You Did) and it was a 3-star rating from me again so personally I'll probably give this author a miss in the future.
