The writing style grew on me, though the title is slightly misleading - I wouldn't describe the entries as 'curiosities', more 'here's something cool that happened on this day in history', like significant births, events, and deaths. You'd read it to find out something interesting that happened on your birthday. For mine, it was that I share a birthday with Marlene Dietrich.
