I got bored halfway through this and abandoned it for about 2 months. If I hadn't been home sick today I probably would never have finished it. Overall, the plot was a little silly and predictable for me. The star rating is more for the descriptive sense of place, Alaska is by far the most interesting "character" for me & I suspect that is what got it on the Pulitzer short list.
