This is a wonderful collection of folk tale retellings. I loved watching Jack weave his way through the stories, was delighted by the retelling of Ashypelt, but it was Little Sparrow who stole my heart. I’ll be coming back to this book time and time again because each tale is so rich in detail there will always be another aspect or motif to find. Plus the author’s notes on each tale at the end provides another wealth of information and interest.
