The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck: A Counterintuitive Approach to Living a Good Life by Mark Manson

5.0

I loved the perspective in this book. The title might lead some to think that it's going to teach you about how you shouldn't care about anything. In reality, what it does is to help you see that you're responsible for what you choose to care about and how many f*cks you have to give. You have to choose them wisely.

A lot of books of this nature end up being preachy and useless (see: Jen Sincero), but I didn't feel that way with this book. I didn't feel like Mark Manson was condescending or trying to tell me how to live my life. Instead, he offered perspective and challenged readers to think about how they could apply it to their own lives and circumstances.

The biggest things that I took away from this book were about the importance of making choices and how we're always doing that, as well as about what our responsibilities are when it comes to what we choose to care about and how we choose to invest our f*cks.

The book is a little over 200 pages and doesn't take very long to read. I can definitely see myself re-reading this one again later because I have a feeling that different life circumstances and events will better inform different points of perspective offered here in a way that every time you read it, you'll get something new out of it. I hope, anyway!
