On the Mountain by Riley Hart

emotional medium-paced

5.0

This book shows another facet to Riley Hart's writing, it feels like a special story. The characters are fragile and precious but also unbelievably strong. We watch two men who have lived their lives in darkness and feeling alone and watch them become each others' light. You will be rooting for both of them to truly believe the joy and love is deserved and can last forever, It's a beautiful thing watching their confidence in each other and themselves, develop. The intimacy is fast and hot and gives the book high steam. The mental health issues are discussed and although this causes a veil over them throughout it doesn't take over. I'm glad that the mental health was shown to be ongoing and was being managed rather than miraculously cured. This is a heartfelt story, with a lot of weight and a story that will mean a lot to people when they read it, it will  absolutely fly. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
