Spook: Science Tackles the Afterlife by Mary Roach
4.0
My big take-away was that for most of our modern history with the supernatural, paranormal investigation was viewed as truly scientific investigation. For audiences of the late 19th and early 20th centuries specifically, the supernatural wasn't necessarily farcical or subject to hyperbole. The rigor of the experiments is mind-boggling absolutely delightful. Not my favorite Roach book but still incredibly informative and told with her characteristic wit.
