The Creative Act: A Way of Being by Rick Rubin

hopeful inspiring fast-paced

4.5

This quick but deep read combined my love for all things making and my appreciation for Zen Buddhism. It reads a lot like the Zen texts I treasure, but with a specific focus on creativity. I think everyone could enjoy this, but especially so if you consider yourself an artist of any kind. (PS I still struggle with that title myself; it feels pretentious and self-aggrandizing. But I love to create!) I think the print book has a dimension I may have lost here in audio, but his voice is quite nice. I think I may want to revisit some of these passages if/when I ever revisit my novel.
