I've been reading Stephen King since I was too young to read Stephen King and this is my second favourite to date (insomnia is my 1st fave, not that you asked). In true King style you get to know everything about Jake/George, I mean everything. Kings attention to detail is what makes you care so much about the characters and what made this book so enjoyable. You pretty much forget its about time travel, especially as it's so easy to follow. I fell in love with all the characters and therefore sobbed like an infant when I got to the end. I wouldn't say the ending is necessarily unpredictable but that doesn't make it hit you any less hard. I would not hesitate to recommend this book to anybody, no matter their favourite genre. Its got everything; time travel, history, violence and a love story! It's long but it's worth it!
