Crazy Rich Asians by Kevin Kwan
3.0
Crazy Rich Asians is (obviously) unrelatable, but entertaining read.
I find myself more interested in the Astrid subplot instead of the main plot involving Rachel, the main character. I can only wonder whether it would be more interesting to read this from first-person narrative...I feel that most of the pages are utilized to 'set up the stage' instead of focusing on what happened. It's understandable, though, because the main attraction of this story is how these ultra-rich Asian people live, the characters' personalities seem to be underdeveloped.
After awhile, one is tired of all the brand-dropping this novel is full with. Plebs like me cannot picture them how things look like due to lack of experience of looking at luxury goods.
