I don’t usually like (straight) romances, I consider the genre to be one of my least favorite, but this book was one of two (straight) romances I’ve actually enjoyed.
I really liked the conversations between Tori and Michael, because they weren’t cringe as it happens in other “sunny” (straight) romances. (At least I highly believe so, I’m not a (straight) romance expert.) Their dialogues were untypical, sometimes, actually mostly philosophical and interesting to follow. It felt like Tori and Michael actually had a good connection, I don’t really like it when romance happens randomly without the foundation of it being friendship, and here there was friendship. Tori and Micheal weren’t quite together but they did feel something more against each other, which slightly makes it a romance.
In the background, and at times in the foreground, the story was sort of a mystery which was a bit intriguing.
I didn’t quite like how the story ended though, it felt kind of… unfinished and not quite understandable, but overall this book was good.
