The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde

5.0

What a piece of art this is; a modern myth which is brutal, yet beautiful, serving as a warning and a tragedy inclined to make an impression on readers of all times.

I first read this ~5 years ago, but at that point the Norwegian translation didn’t quite hit the mark for me. Therefore I’m really happy to have gotten the extra motivation to reread this through my book club (this time in English), and oh boy did I enjoy it a lot more this time! My plan was to get started on this during their hosted readathon, but I found it so immersive and easy to read that I ended up finishing it the same day.

Truly a mic drop ending which leaves your soul rattled.
