Love in the Chthulucene by Natalee Caple

4.0

Natalee Caple writes intensely personal, complex poems about kinship and connection and the times we live in, from the #metoo movement to the climate crisis. Each word is carefully chosen for sound and as a signifier. But as much thought as Caple puts into these poems I felt like I needed just as much to deconstruct and understand them, and I wasn't always up for it. It took me months to make through just a couple poems at a time and I'm still fairly sure I missed significant meaning. I eventually decided to just let the sounds wash over me and not worry too much about what I was supposed to take away.
