I really enjoyed this book. There is something so hopeful in the idea of a story about two gay women who will change the course of their suffering world. The romance definitely takes the backburner to the political issues that take place in story's world. The worldbuilding is extremely well done, and does not ever feel forced or overwhelming. The main characters are complex people whose life experiences reflect their behavior well, and while there is a primary antagonist, most of the characters truly seek to do what they believe is right even when the actions they take are not traditionally heroic or "good." I am already looking forward to the second installment of this trilogy.
Graphic: Fire/Fire injury
