To Name the Bigger Lie: A Memoir in Two Stories by Sarah Viren

4.0

I was very skeptical of the premise of the book, but the tie of the two major plot lines actually worked really well. I liked the blend of philosophizing and narrative for the first 2/3s but by the end the plot had run out and she was still chugging with exposition. That made it drag for me, which was unfortunate because it was such a page turner to start. I especially liked (was saddened by?) reading this book which was inspired by Trump winning the 2016 election in fall 2024.

" The goal here isn’t to get angry, but to connect. To achieve intimacy in that misalignment."

"We may feel like prisonores chained to a cave floor... But we are also, always, the shadow casters. And we are also always the ones who give names to the shadows cast."

found in greenlight bookstore. Good addition to memoir collection.
