The Ruthless Groom by Monica Murphy

5.0

I just finished reading this book and I’m all agitated! What a cliffhanger! Not for the faint of heart!

Continuing with Charlotte Lancaster and Perry Constantine’s marriage of convenience, this union was convenient for everybody but them. But Charlotte wanted to get out of her house and Perry wanted to please his mother, so the marriage happened.

This couple had started to know each other and realized that a marriage between them would not be too hard, given they had their first sexy night and they got on like a house on fire. So the future seemed promising and on to their wedding date they go. But Seamus McTiernan, Charlotte’s Paris ex-lover, came to her on her wedding day and scared her with menaces and dark premonitions. She called Perry scared, he came running, and this tension about Charlotte’s past brought up distrust.

The book deals with Charlotte and Perry’s rocky relation, and the lover from the past that brings more suspicion and menace than previously thought. His relation to the Morelli's and the hate between all these families is cause for a suspicion of business spying.

The tug and pull between Charlotte and Perry, their chemistry that was too much to resist, even in spite of mistrust, their burgeoning feelings for each other and the low thrum of menace made this a page turner story. I felt pity for Charlotte and her thirst for love and attention, got mad frequently with Perry for being an insensitive brute, but loved their chemistry that flared whenever they were near. The honeymoon was hot
