This was my first book by Stephen King! I’m not a horror person at all but this was a decent intro to the genre for me. I can handle the slow creep of stuff and found this to be palatable for me.
My qualms was that this book did feel too long for things to happen but also not happen??? The premise was cool and I did enjoy the story line. At points there I felt like not a thing was happening and I found myself not locked into listening.
I did like how King did build that creeping tension though of sounds and descriptive imagery of the characters in the books and wondering who was lurking in the windows. It felt classic vampirey without being extremely gimmicky! I would probably read another one of King’s works (so long as it’s not terrifying given that I am in fact a baby lol)
