This book is not your typical run of the mill erotica as it definitely ebbs on the darker side. Jade and Talon are both complex and layered characters with large walls up around them. Talon is hard edges all around and appears to have trouble from his past that makes it difficult for him to open up and let people in. Jade also has walls, but provides a soft contrast that will hopefully balance Talon out. The beginning of their story is hot and intense and I can only imagine what will occur when their feelings are truly able to be felt. The spice was top tier and it was clear these characters had physical chemistry. I loved the friendship between Marjorie and Jade and how each of the siblings looked out for one another. The story felt quick and the mysterious aspect only made me want to keep reading. The cliffhanger this was left on had me absolutely shrieking and I need more of Jade and Talon immediately. Hardt sets up her stories so magnificently from one to the next and this was the perfect start to a series I truly believe will take me on a wild ride.
