This is not only one of the best memoirs, but also one of the best books I have read in my entire life. Machado is a master of the craft of writing, and made me viscerally feel every single emotion woven into this incredible work. It was told in a creative way and is really just one of those reads that changes your life.
Everyone should read this. Everyone can find something in it for them, despite it being written primarily about Machado’s experiences, and that is what makes it such a powerful and painfully effective memoir.
