I picked this as our December bookclub book because I was expecting a cute “Hallmark” type Christmas book. I was so very very wrong. Now I have to apologize to my bookclub for bringing the room down. The ending felt forced and added for “shock value” and felt unnecessary. And a lot of us have trauma from a parent(s) passing. Get over it. It’s been 20 years, move on.
