An Echo in the Shadows by Thea Atkinson

4.0

When her troublesome sister makes a cryptic plea for her to run as men are coming, Kit knows it's just another way of seeking attention, and ignores her sister's warning, but a part of her can't help but worry what trouble she might be in.  Combined with the feeling that someone is watching her from the shadows, Kit is on edge.
Meanwhile Flint, a Dark Fae has been tasked to watch over a human woman as insurance to their ongoing strategies, a seemingly mundane task until he travels to earth and finds her.
Now as he stalks in the shadows he's helplessly drawn to her and ready to break his vows.
This short story shows the chasm between sisters, an introduction to the dangers of Fae, a glimpse into assassin plots, and the start of a complex, uncertain and intense bond.

Whether you've read the Realms series or are new to the story, this is a great insight into these characters and a world that's filled with danger, longing, monsters and violence.

✨ "He wasn't just handsome, he was perfection. A beautiful predator in a man's skin"

✨"If she runs. You chase. If she sleeps, you watch her. If she dies, it would be better for you to take your own life than return home to Fae"
