This picked up right after book one and I remember loving it the first time I read it. this time around, I still love it! It seems that a lot of people don't like the POV change, but I welcome it. I think Tella as the narrator is much more interesting and enticing and I just generally like her character better. The action and mystery of this installment was so good and it certainly did not receive the stereotypical book two slump. I thought the new setting of Caraval was unique and I was so captivated by all the magic, illusion and tricks. Of course, readers also get introduced to Jacks, and isn't he just the perfect anti-hero. Like I want to root for him so hard, and I can't wait to see him have his moment in the spin-off. I liked Tella's growth here and she didn't feel like such a naive girl anymore. I'm looking forward to reading book three for the first time and figuring out more of the mystery as well as watching the love stories expand!
