I recently finished "Serpent & Dove" by Shelby Mahurin and I have to say, I was a bit disappointed. I was expecting a thrilling and exciting fantasy adventure, but instead, I was met with a slow-paced and predictable story. The characters were not as compelling as I had hoped and their interactions felt forced and uninteresting. The world-building was average, and I felt like the magic system was not well-explained.

Despite these shortcomings, there were a few things I did enjoy about the book. The premise of the story was intriguing and had the potential to be a great read. I also appreciated the attention to detail in the historical and cultural elements that were incorporated into the story.

Overall, I would rate "Serpent & Dove" a 3-star book. While it wasn't the greatest read, I don't regret giving it a chance. However, it didn't live up to my expectations and I wouldn't recommend it to those looking for a fast-paced and captivating fantasy adventure.
