This book wasn’t bad. Arguably I’m more alike to these two MCs than the first book. That said I did have a couple issues with the book. The first is the beginning. We are told MMC has this big deep dark secret that no one understands and he’s super unrelatable because of it and it was just that he likes to read…. I think it was overdone to have him have a whole page where he’s complaining about how no one will understand him and his love for reading… it’s just his family isn’t particular into reading so it was dramatic. Speaking of dramatic, I found it super ridiculous when she kicked him out of the office when they first met in a professional setting because we had 0 context about her ex boyfriend hurting her in the past so I just felt very out of line and unnecessary. Because of this there wasn’t so much character flaws as “niche” personality traits that we as readers are forced to believe make them special and unique even though they’re not that special or unique lol. Also the antagonist was a caricature of a “bad guy” so I was mostly rolling my eyes at their montage.
