I was slightly sceptical about this book at first as the complexity of plots that include time loops often results in books that aren't well thought-out or written or just don't deliver what is advertised.
However, this book was a very pleasant surprise and had me absolutely hooked. You could tell that the little details from the different point of views from different “hosts” as they call it in the book, were well planned and intentional.
The plot itself unfurled itself slowly and gradually. The different days and point of views means that you are also trying to put together the puzzle pieces at the same time as the character, though I will admit he was much faster than I was.
The pieces of the puzzle all come together at the end, but not quite in the way you expect it too. The last 100 pages had me absolutely gripped and by the end of it, I had thrown my hands up in the air multiple times and nearly screamed a fair few times as well. The twists at the end had my jaw on the floor and the loose threads all came together eventually in a very unexpected way. I'm still trying to wrap my head around it!
Due to the nature of the book, there are a lot of characters to remember which I did struggle to keep up with sometimes. Despite this, I really enjoyed seeing the different hosts as each of the hosts, though the mind controlling the body was the same, each still had part of their own personality and traits which influenced the actions that the main character did. I thought this was a really nice touch to add a bit of uniqueness to each host.
I would highly recommend reading this book if you enjoy a good murder mystery that you can't predict from the first chapter. I found this book thoroughly enjoyable and might even have a second read to try and wrap my head around what I read.
