Impossible to give this a rating, this extensive history is extremely helpful in laying out the timeline between 1917 to 2017. The added personal and familial history of the author is extremely well done, and gives an added level of human experience to the trials and subjugation of the Palestinian people during the span the book covers.
The one section emphasizing the importance of art and literature by and for the Palestinian people was extremely touching, equating it in importance to the resistance groups in humanizing the Palestinian experience. I feel that I finally understand that same impact today, seeing so many readers seeking out Palestinian literature, because even fiction enables us to have a better understanding of others, while these non-fiction and historical texts do more to provide political context.
