The Lost Bookshop by Evie Woods

4.0

Format: Print

This book combines a lot of things I love: books, history, mystery and romance, and they all came together in a way that really worked for me. We have three perspectives across two timelines, with perspective changing in every chapter. This doesn’t always work for me – sometimes I become too invested in one perspective or storyline – but actually I think the perspectives and timelines came together really well. I was invested in all storylines and characters – and I particularly liked Opaline and Madame Bowden. If I had one criticism – and the thing that keeps this from being 5 stars for me – it’s that it felt a bit predictable towards the end. I guessed some of the mystery elements before they were resolved which is unusual for me and meant that I had less of a reaction than I perhaps would have liked. But overall, I really enjoyed the book and I can definitely see myself coming back to it again.
