I do enjoy mystery books where the police aren't the focus of the investigation, and instead just some guy is putting his all into figuring things out. This story threw in just a few more twists than you were expecting and it definitely compelled me to read it as quickly as possible. A bit of a stark ending, but at least it wasn't drawn out and mushy like some can be.
