Jane Eyre but make it a murder mystery set in the Deep South.
I was definitely entertained by this book, but it’s not much to write home about. It did make me nostalgic for Jane Eyre, which is my favorite book of all time, but as far as this particular story goes, it was engaging, but predictable. If you took away the connection to the characters I was already familiar with and just left the story, it’s a run of the mill mystery. I didn’t find the twists very twisty. It reminded me of Stone Cold Fox by Rachel Koller Croft, but slightly better. Do with that what you will.
The Alabama of it all was just funny 😅
