Just an Ordinary Family by Fiona Lowe

5.0

This is my first review for a gifted book and I’m secretly/ not so secretly glad it was an incredible page turner! Our two main characters are Alice and Libby. Side characters are their parents, Libby’s husband Nick , her best friend Jess and a few other minor characters. We mainly see PoV from Alice, Libby as well the occasional one from Karen, their mother, and Jess. Initially they are an ordinary family but when one secret is outed their ordinary becomes dysfunctional and this seemingly perfect family struggles to find their new normal. I was so invested in all the characters, I loved Alice, hated Jess, pitied Nick, still am unsure about Libby and Karen’s choices really bothered me. I couldn’t put it down and read it in one weekend. There were some serious plot twists and I was on the edge of my seat attempting to guess where the book would take me. I felt happiness, downright anger and sadness ( there were tears at the end). I haven’t read a book by Fiona Lowe but I will definitely be reading more of her work after this amazing read.
