Attempting Elizabeth by Jessica Grey
5.0
Like many, I am a lover of Pride and Prejudice. It's a favorite classic of mine and I love when new authors bring it into their stories. Jessica Grey takes a unique spin on the idea of falling into a book when her character, Kelsey, does just that - quite literally. Kelsey falls asleep one day while reading and ends up right in the middle of her favorite story - but not as her favorite character. Meanwhile, back in the real world, she has managed to make a fool of herself several times in front of the hot bartender, Mark.
As Kelsey flips back and forth between the world of Pride and Prejudice and her real life, there's times she thinks her little trips are much better - if only she could manage to jump into Elizabeth Bennet, then things might just be perfect. When the unthinkable happens and she finds herself unable to get back to her real life, she has to use all her literary brain power to figure out what she needs to do to get back to herself.
Full of fantastic Austen references, and a very subtle look at being true to who you really are inside, this book was a winner on just about every level. I think anyone who loves a good classic will love this glimpse into the life of an Elizabeth Bennet fan.
