“"Don't the great tales never end?"
"No, they never end as tales," said Frodo. "But the people in them come, and go when their part's ended. Our part will end later – or sooner."”

Finally. I finally get the hype.  Don’t get me wrong, I liked The Hobbit and The Fellowship of the Ring, but this is the book that really hooked me.
•
I finally got the character development and action I’ve been craving, and I got them in spades. So much happened in The Two Towers, it’s hard to believe this is the shortest book of the trilogy.
•
In book 3 it was great to see Aragorn’s growth, and his possible love interest. I cracked up at the rapport between Gimli and Legolas; Merry and Pippen we’re quite entertaining on their adventure, and the Ents were an unexpected highlight!
•
Book 4 was equally satisfying. Sam and Frodo’s relationship is such a delight and Sam has my heart after this story. But Gollum! He steals the spotlight in every scene he’s in, especially in the audiobook. He’s such a complex character and I found myself wanting to see him more and more.

I loved The Two Towers from beginning to end. There’s so much more to talk about in this book, but suffice to say, I am now a Tolkien fan and absolutely recommend this series. As I turn to The Return of the King I find myself anxious to begin to get back with my friends, but sad because I know our time together is coming to an end.
