The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller

5.0

This was my first ever audiobook and I kind of feel like nothing else will quite live up to it!

The story was so beautifully written and emotional. My heart feels full and broken at the same time.

Even though I knew parts of the story of Achilles and the war for Helen, nothing could have prepared me for how heartbreaking and consuming this story was. I think I made the right choice to listen to it rather than read as I cried so much that it would have taken me ten times longer to finish it.

The characters in this felt so alive, more than in any Hollywood movie depicting them. I fell in love with a lot of them and I will definitely read it again at some point in the future.

I’m not really sure what else I can say about it, other than it more than lives up to all the hype I’ve heard about it. I’m only sad it took me so long to get around to it.
