Sad, haunting and as the blurb says "quietly enormous" in what it captures in very sparse, special prose. Truly moving for me to read as I live in the same area the boat is set in and so brought to life the buildings, streets and lives that were lived - and lost - in my Amsterdam neighbourhood at that time.
