I couldn’t put this book down. To be clear, if there is one trope I hate: the lying and keeping secrets trope; the main character finds out, cries and leaves. Then there’s some big confession of love and all is forgiven. I don’t know why, but the lying really irks me because 99.9% of the time, it’s laced in confusion and miscommunication. This book was that trope. However, the plot pulled me in: the pen pal idea I thought was just so cute. On page 10 or something, I realized how much I loved this book. I started at 10:30 and just finished the last page. It’s 2:18 AM. I have work in the morning but I just had to see how it ended. And it exceeded all of my expectations.

This book didn’t really have that miscommunication trope like I’ve seen it. I was kind of expecting it and just hoping that I would be able to finish the book (i hate the miscommunication/third act break up/ lying trope that much, okay?). While the reader knows Chase keeping this big secret, it’s truly out of love and care for Olivia. It genuinely came from a good place in his heart and I knew that he HAD to tell her. This story was too cute not to. It was a little frustrating because he has all these internal monologues and thoughts and I did find myself saying, “You need to tell her.” Especially with her Risk List, I felt like if he didn’t tell her, I would give it 1 star because who does that knowing everything he knows….? It would have infuriated me to no end because I had grown to like these characters. I was rooting for them the entire time.

THE PLOT TWIST HAD MY JAW ON THE FLOOR. I’ve read so many romance novels that I can tell you pretty accurately what’s going to happen, but let me tell you, I was NOT expecting that plot twist. There were so many parts about this novel that were all woven together in a cohesive book and I enjoyed the twists and turns, even though it was never anything suspenseful, this is a meet cute, read in one day romance novel after all.
The way he talked about her was so sweet. This book is just the whole package. The way he told her who he is was very sweet and honest, filled with uncertainty and fear that she would walk away.

THANK YOU SARAH for not making it this whole big screaming crying “how could you? I hate you! I never want to see you again.” Speech when Olivia found out, or rather, Chase told her. She acknowledged her feelings of betrayal because girl, that hurt me and I was just reading the novel. And she would have every right to be made and have that above reaction. I think she just realized that there was nothing she could do about it and she was clearly in love with Remington and Chase so it was nice that she didn’t have to “pick” because they were one in the same. She was clearly torn through most of the book. There is a third act breakup but by the time you get to it you’re so far into the book that you’re like “If this doesn’t end in HEA, I’m throwing this book across the room.”

I really enjoyed it. This is one that I might have to buy a physical copy of. 15/10
