Gravity's Rainbow by Thomas Pynchon

5.0

massive, sprawling, paranoid, dark, maniacal, at times heartbreaking, at others humorous (cartoonish even), twisting, arresting, confounding, unafraid to reference

my first read of gravity’s rainbow. it’s probably the greatest book i’ve read. i love the layers to the themes and how the themes weave together to create a bleak picture of the end of ww2. how humanity has conquered nature and the evil caused by that. it’s a very bleak book, but moments of humanity and tenderness shine through. the pökler episode stands out most to me.

sorta my first postmodern book and really loved the wackiness of the structure. read this on recommendation from my good buddy matt (the recipient of many “wtf” texts while i was reading) and was able to work through my feelings about it with him which also heightened my reading experience. i loved this, and im very excited to read it again
