Mistakes Were Made (But Not by Me): Why We Justify Foolish Beliefs, Bad Decisions, and Hurtful Acts by Carol Tavris, Elliot Aronson
4.0
I found this book fascinating and it's definitely worth reading, but it left me with an existential question: if all we're constantly trying to deal with cognitive dissonance through confirmation bias and other "remedies," how can we know if we're ever "right"--as opposed to just confirming our preferences? Is the logical extension of this argument that there is no "truth"--only positions that need protecting?
