I went into this one almost completely blind, I only heard that it‘s a good book and that‘s about it. So I was pleasantly surprised with it, I bought this not even knowing it‘s a memoir, embarrassing I know. I thought the cultural aspect to her story was so interesting since I personally couldn‘t relate to it since I‘m white and not asian BUT it‘s so interesting to see how a family works and what the culture values. But still I could relate to parts of the story especially about how the relationship to her parents was quite rocky for quite a while because her parents didn‘t understand her wants and need, that is something I feel like a lot of people can relate to. I‘m glad that Michelle was brave enough to write her story down.
