Animal Farm by George Orwell

I. AM. SPEECHLESS!!
My mind is absolutely racing after finishing this book. I had high expectations coming into it, but Animal Farm has completely blown these expectations out of the water. It is such a powerful book that is unbelievably well written. The political and societal criticisms that were highlighted in this book were so wonderfully executed in a way that was so powerful and effective. George Orwell did not dance around his themes rather, he was straight forward and packed a strong punch. I am just so taken aback by the effect that this book has had on my thinking. I know that this is going to be one of those books that I can't get out of my head, and will be thinking about long into the future. The messages portrayed in Animal Farm are timeless, so I definitely think this book should be universally read.
Basically, in Animal Farm, George Orwell portrayed human characteristics and politics in a bunch of farm animals. These animals decide that they're sick of being controlled by a farmer, so they throw a rebellion to become self-governed. This book strongly represents communist Russia, with many of the animals correlating to real life political figures. Despite this strong representation, the book can be seen as a political and social criticism in the more general sense. Through the use of animals, George Orwell portrays the many different personalities in high pressure situations. I think this book about animals perfectly shows the flaws of humanity, but also some of its strengths.
I really don't know what more to say about this book, because it was simply amazing and I can't criticise it. I was blown away by the strength of this book, because it definitely packed a powerful punch. It spoke tonnes about communism and political manipulation, the importance of history and the written word as well as the nature of humanity. This is one of those books that I'd love to read professional criticisms on, because I'm sure there is so much that I missed. On top of this being a wonderfully genius novel, it was also very entertaining and fast paced, so that's a win.
Another thing I got out of this book: I hate pigs. I'm almost certain that isn't the main takeaway theme of the novel, but man, those pigs really got on my nerves!
