Man's Search for Meaning by Viktor E. Frankl

4.0

This book apparently is a self-help classic, but I found the historical tellings of the authors experience in the Nazi Concentration camps a lot more interesting then the self help part.
Frankl tells what life in such a camp looked like for him and others and was able to explain it from a more psychological viewpoint. It is very impressive.

What I took from it mostly is the stoic philosophy that whatever they take from you, you are always the master of how you react to situations. Apparently this held true even during the horrors of a concentration camp.

The later part of his book explains a bit about his views on psychological treatment of his later patients, which seems a bit archaic now.
