Danger's Race by Amanda Carlson
5.0
Amanda Carlson's writing style in this series has become my new favorite series style. Each book picks up at almost the exact moment the last story ended. It makes it very easy to fall back into the story, no matter how much time has passed since the last book release. This does mean that there isn't a summary about things that have happened in the story, but I appreciate that because is means more adventure. And, this is an amazing adventure! I devoured this book in one sitting and I am anxiously waiting for the next one.
The world really expands in this one. There are new characters and new locations. The descriptions are still just as vivid, the world is just as desolate, and the feeling of peering into our future reality is a little frightening. The way that Holly and her friends continue to fight for a better world is a ray of sunshine in this acid-rain soaked planet. Holly is just as kick-a** as she has always been, Case's character is being revealed more and more, and Daze is still one of my favorite characters. He makes it possible for Holly to show her softer side without losing any of her fierceness. I am really enjoying the character growth and the way the relationships continue to change. There is less actions, as far as battles, in this one, but with the expanded setting you get a better fell for the condition of the world and the struggle the people experience. I won't give away any of the plot twists, and there are some good ones, so you need to read it and find out what they are for yourself.
