Secrets and Lies by H.M. Holten, H.M. Holten

4.0

This story paints a picture of what it may have been like as a girl growing up under Nazi occupation. Sadly, it also illustrates how hatred is a learned emotion and how environments beyond our parents can influence us. The protagonist is unlikable but at the same time somewhat relatable, considering what life puts her through. I feel like the ending to the trilogy is rather abrupt; there are still some loose ends. But I'm glad I read the entire series because it's really well done.
