The way I ran to grab She’s a Wild One, the last book in the Wilds of Montana series. I needed it. I have adored this entire series and this last book did not disappoint.
We have Millie and Holden together in the prologue, they’re from rival families and are happy together, but Holden has to make a decision when his dad finds out. Fast forward 8 years, his dad is no longer among the living and Holden is ready to win Millie back for good. The only problem, Millie hates him.
Off the bat, we find out why they’re not together, and I loved that we got that, that we weren’t left in suspense. We knew exactly why Holden did what he did. And we’re on his side. We’re rooting for him. Later on, we do find out how he did it, and, dude, no! No wonder she hates you. Lol. But he’s in a predicament, and he needs to get married in order to inherit his dad’s estate, he has sisters he wants to provide for - he’s practically raised them, and adores them. He calls them his girls. So Millie is like, well damn, I know how much he loves his sisters, I know how shitty their childhood was, how can I say no? So she says yes, with stipulations, there are gonna be some rules. And Holden is like, nope. Their relationship is one for the ages, seeing them reconnecting and how he has always, even though he pushed her away, tried to maintain that and gotten mad when he didn’t know whether she was sleeping with her friend, who is also his friend. Lashing out at his friends and them just like what’s going on. There are cute nicknames that will make you swoon, and he is tatted, from his fingers all the way up and if that isn’t enough, the hand necklaces in this book are all the thing. Hand necklaces are all well and good but hand necklaces with finger tattoos—fans are needed. When I tell you this cover is these characters. We find out the reason for his tattoos, and my heart almost melted. There were some moments when tears were involved. Usually involving Millie and her dad. That whole relationship dynamic was just too much for my emotions…in the best way.
I just adored this book. I thought it was a fantastic way to end the series.
It is performed in dual by Sebastian York and Grace Grant. Sebastian York delivered in this book, it was so impactful, such a fantastic performance, and Grace was just the perfect Millie, showing that vulnerability because of what he’s done in the past and having that guard up but still being in love with him and getting into the point where she doesn’t know what to do, does she keep protecting herself or does she let him in. And I thought the way it was performed was stellar.
