This is one of the more unique books I’ve read in a while. It’s a Western set in the deep American south in a world where the US government decided that we should have hippos instead of horses (that’s a simplification). With a surprising amount of diverse representation and a super quirky cast of characters, compelling platonic & romantic relationships, plenty of murder, and so many hippos, I completely enjoyed every part of this collection of stories.
