Soil: The Story of a Black Mother's Garden by Camille T. Dungy

emotional informative inspiring reflective medium-paced

5.0

This was a really interesting story, I love the structure of this book, she really takes you on a journey of her life and how to actually plant and structure a garden. I am not a plant person and I have no green thumb but I love everything biology and that’s what really sparked my interest. The first part was a bit slow but then it picked up and really enjoyable. We follow her journey from when she picked up her family and moved to Colorado, learning how to properly plan for her garden in a new setting all the way until the pandemic and all the injustices that took place. Again, really intriguing set up, lots of plant facts thrown at you and current social injustices that took place, if that tickles your fancy!!
