Petty Theft by Pascal Girard
3.0
I like this more than Reunion, which was much more of a one trick pony. Girard (the cartoon avatar) comes off as a little less self-hating/egotistical in this slice of life story about his relationship with a book theif who catches his attention when she steals his book (something he, of course, finds super interesting). Love when the bookseller tosses him out of the store when he returns a wack of the stolen books - cause yeah, he is a suspicious creep. But that's why I have grown to have affection for him over the two books I've read so far. A sort of cartoon Quebecois Woody Allen - with all the baggage implied in that comparison. And the petty theif is actually presented as a neurotic complex human being not a femme fatale. While these books are rather self-regarding, Girard the artist makes sure to observe and record those rotating around him.
