Badass female with an axe and a bookish boy with maps go on an adventure. Bone houses are basically zombies, and these two go off to try to find the cause.
This book was action-packed. The setting was very atmospheric. It was gloomy, dark, thrilling, at times gory, and even creepy. Both characters had interesting backstories. I felt that at times, Ellis got overshadowed by Ryn, being the softer of the two. However, his strength was emotional and mental compared to her physical. The animal companion in this one is a dead goat who was amazing.
I'm really loving the world Emily Lloyd-Jones is creating that is inspired by Welsh folklore. I like The Wild Huntress and will be starting The Drowned Woods soon.
